Cirrus launches G6

Cirrus Aircraft has launched the 2017 G6 – according to the company “the smartest, safest and most advanced models ever” of its SR22T, SR22 and SR20 piston airplanes.

The benchmark of the new models is the Cirrus Perspective+ flight deck, developed by Garmin and inspired by its latest G1000 NXi integrated platform. Cirrus claims Perspective+ offers ten times the processing speed and efficiency than its former Perspective avionics suite. Features include animated datalink weather, SurfaceWatch safety protection, payload management, visual approach capabilities and wireless database uploads.

Additional features include automotive-inspired Cirrus Spectra wingtip lighting, developed in collaboration with emergency lighting and signalling solutions provider Whelen Engineering, and premium cockpit connectivity solutions. This sixth-generation Cirrus is available for order immediately and customer deliveries are underway.

“G6 is the result of the most innovative, capable and feature-rich set of upgrades we have ever applied to the entire SR product line,” comments Cirrus Customer Experience President Todd Simmons. “The reality is the improvements in G6 taken altogether are a window into our design and . development values at Cirrus Aircraft. While the new features brought by G6 are both innovative and compelling, they are equally intentional and customer-centric when it comes to real steps forward in capability, performance, style, and safety improvements.”

The launch of G6 continues a firm growth period at Cirrus Aircraft. In June of last year, Cirrus opened a new factory service center at the McGhee Tyson in Knoxville, TN at the home of the new Vision SF50 facility, which was certified last October. Deliveries began in December. The company also expanded its manufacturing footprint in December by opening a new 68,000 sq ft finishing facility in Duluth to accelerate the Vision Jet’s production.
