MRO / NORTH AMERICA | 16/10/2017

Gulfstream plans to increase its maintenance support for customers travelling through Van Nuys in Los Angeles, CA; and at Bedford, Boston, MA.

The company plans to erect a 43,200 sq ft service center at Van Nuys, with close to 24,000 sq ft of shop and office space. According to a company statement, the facility will complement the adjacent FBO run by sister company Jet Aviation. Operations are expected to begin in 2019, focusing initially on line maintenance and serve as the new base of operations for the FAST unit in place at Van Nuys since late 2013. In case of heavier maintenance, customers can always opt for the company’s Long Beach facility.

Additionally, Savannah, GA-headquartered OEM will be installing a Field and Airborne Support Teams (FAST) unit for the Boston area, located at Jet Aviation’s facility at Hanscom Field in Bedford. The unit will include factory-trained technicians and a custom truck outfitted with equipment and spare parts.

According to Gulfstream, over 130 of its aircraft are based at Van Nuys, and close to 20 at Hanscom Field.

“These additions to our product support network will keep us well-positioned to accommodate operators located at or traveling through these busy corridors for Gulfstream aircraft,” further added Gulfstream Product Support President Derek Zimmerman. “They will also help us prepare for the upcoming deliveries of our two new aircraft, the Gulfstream G500 and G600.”
