TAG Farnborough courts large bizjets
TAG Farnborough Airport (FAB) will attend the forthcoming NBAA/BACE show in Orlando with good news for operators of very large business jets. The company sees the annual show as one of the most important events on its calendar, particularly as US business aircraft operators are such important customers.
Over the last 12 months, TAG Farnborough Airport, which is located to the west of London, has seen a year-on-year growth of 6.7% in the volume of traffic to and from the US. “Most of these aircraft are operated by Fortune 500 companies,” says TAG Farnborough Airport CEO Brandon O’Reilly. “This goes to show that US corporate aviation is out and travelling again – and that Farnborough is becoming their UK destination of choice.”
More significantly, the increase in airliner-class business jets, such as the Boeing BBJ and Airbus ACJ, is even higher – at 7.4%. “We have invested more than £1 million in new facilities to cater to this particular market, and it is clearly paying off,” says O’Reilly. He notes that many of the very large business jets come with large passenger loads, including sports teams, musical acts and delegations visiting the UK’s car manufacturers and other major businesses. To accommodate these larger passenger groups, in the beginning of the year, TAG Farnborough Airport opened its dedicated and fully-secure Lounge 5. Located in the business terminal, Lounge 5 provides the same top quality of service that individual passengers experience in the terminal’s main reception lounges.
More than an FBO
TAG Farnborough Airport offers a complete range of FBO services, including the 169-room, five-star Aviator Hotel. The hotel is located on the airport’s perimeter, making it a convenient choice for overnight crew stops and, offers a top-quality restaurant, meeting rooms and a gym. The airport is also set to expand to the south, the location of the bi-annual Farnborough International Air Show. With ground breaking due in weeks, the site is being redeveloped as a permanent Exhibition and Conference Center that will host a wide range of events in addition to the Air Show. “We look forward to this addition, not least because it will bring business to the airport, but also because it will offer new, state-of-the-art facilities for the greater London area,” says O’Reilly.
TAG Farnborough Airport is also proud of being voted Best European FBO for 11 years running. On this point, O’Reilly is quick to stress that, thanks to its Quiet Flying Program, the airport has experienced the lowest level of local resident complaints ever and has maintained its enviable environmental record.
The company also gets kudos for space. “Although we have more than 40 business jets permanently based here, we have plenty of available space for more in the six hangars we added in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympics,” says O’Reilly.
